In June 2014, Lodestone facilitated the launch of the Small Business Charter’s first tranche of awards for ‘trailblazing’ business schools that are building close links with business, fostering entrepreneurship and driving growth in their local communities. Lodestone co-ordinated and set up the ceremony to award the business schools, working closely with the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. The event took place at 10 Downing Street and Lord Young of Graffham, the Government’s Adviser on Enterprise and author of the report ‘Growing Your Business’, hosted the event to award 20 business schools in recognition of their commitment to supporting start-ups and small businesses.
The Small Business Charter, brings together world-class business schools and SME & Start-Up communities across the UK to create sustainable economic growth. The SBC awards business schools recognised for excellence in supporting SMEs and creates a framework for them to provide small businesses with nationally recognised programmes of expert advice and training to help their business grow. In order to achieve a Small Business Charter award business schools undergo a rigorous assessment process to validate their business engagement and business support.
