We successfully supported Spurgeon’s College in challenging their rejected application for registration from the Office for Students (OfS) through an integrated legal, public affairs and comms strategy. The College believed the decision had been made in error and as a result created an existential situation for Spurgeon’s College and their community. Through our approach we raised the profile of the College and the issue amongst policy makers and targeted Christian and mainstream media. Using this strategy we engaged with key political stakeholders such as then Universities Ministers, Chris Skidmore and Jo Johnson, as well as parliamentarians in both houses. We created a cross party swell of support for the College within Parliament – with members proactively advocating for our campaign within Parliament and asking questions to relevant departments. The strategy also activated wide reaching support from the Christian community, garnering press coverage, both print and radio, in key media outlets. Spurgeon’s College application has now been successful.
