The role

The role will be varied and crosscut the disciplines of PR, Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Events and Crisis Comms. We are looking for a capable and confident operator who has a good understanding of the required knowledge of key business sectors, media and communication skills, and who brings experience in successful client servicing and delivery. The candidate will be able cover the following:

  • Proactive role in the delivery of client projects and campaigns
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, taking notes and helping ensure accurate capture of actions and outputs
  • Develop and deliver sections of the client account plan and assist the Account Manager/Director in day-to-day running of the account
  • Take responsibility for client agenda creation, at request of Account Manager/AD/Director.
  • Regular checks on client and competitor websites to develop good knowledge of the market space and wider sector
  • Competent in a variety of written communications and styles, including press releases, opinion pieces, speeches, client briefings, and newsletters
  • Provide support to AD/Director including development of press packs and materials and selling items in to media as directed.
  • Building relationships with key media and regular contact with top tier (national and trade) media contacts on behalf of each client.
  • Contacting and informing Parliamentarians and stakeholders of activities e.g. by preparing email and postal mailings, once approved by Manager
  • To establish an effective presence in Westminster and Whitehall and develop and maintain public affairs contacts across Parliament and Government.
  • To assist with compilation of Party Conference programmes and events

The Candidate

We are looking for a Senior Account Executive that displays the following experience and attributes:

  • Around two years’ experience in an agency or in-house communications role
  • Good knowledge of the requirements of client servicing and successfully delivering programmes of work
  • Ability to liaise with clients in a confident manner and build good working relationships
  • Confident in dealings with senior stakeholders, including MPs, government officials, and journalists
  • Skilled in undertaking research for new business pitches and current client programmes
  • Enjoys writing and digesting complex policy issues.
  • An eye for detail, and the ability to deliver high quality output and client service.
  • Capable of juggling tasks/client at the time and prioritising workload accordingly
  • A can-do attitude and an action-oriented approach, proactively looking for opportunities.
  • Can work collaboratively in a team or independently, as well as supporting more junior members of the team
  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment keeping to deadlines and skilled in timekeeping.

The role will be to provide support across the disciplines of PR, Public Affairs, Corporate Communications and Crisis Comms. We’re offering a 3-month full-time paid internship. We pay our interns the London Living Wage and are signed up to the PRCA’s Intern Guidelines. The role offers hybrid working, with the option of working from home on Mondays and Fridays.

The Candidate
We are looking for a dynamic individual who will be able cover the following:

• Support a press office function – handling PR, crisis comms and pro-actively pitching stories
• Help monitor parliamentary business, digest policy and be part of a public affairs delivery team
• Support the team as they deliver high quality client services
• Provide research and write corporate materials, compelling content for press releases, speeches and political analysis
• Help organise events and stakeholder consultations for clients and projects across the UK

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• An interest in corporate affairs, politics and the media
• Enjoyment of writing and digesting complex policy issues
• An eye for detail, and the ability to deliver high quality outputs and client service
• A can-do attitude and an action-oriented approach
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently and enjoys a fast-paced environment
• Curious about the world with a passion for understanding complex issues
