British Poultry Council (BPC)

Lodestone provides expertise in navigating government departments and raising the profile of key political stakeholders. Lodestone develops impactful communications campaigns for the BPC, allowing their messaging to cut through and exert influence over key policy areas such as trade and labour. The Food on Every Table campaign – shortlisted for the PRCA Public Affairs Trade Body Campaign of the Year Award (2019) – illustrated the importance of access to high-quality British food and banning the import of lower-quality food such as chlorinated chicken. This messaging has resonated with public opinion and helped to shape stakeholder perceptions.

Lodestone has helped the BPC become a senior voice in the food sector by assisting with development of key messages to be articulated during regular meetings with Government departments such as DEFRA, DIT, HO and No 10 which has been hugely beneficial through the pandemic. During the first COVID-19 lockdown, Lodestone engaged successfully with policy makers to ensure food workers were designated as ‘key workers’, allowing them to continue feeding the nation while their children attended school. The BPC are regularly asked to speak on key sectoral issues, and frequently receive positive references in Parliamentary debates, as well as coverage in media outlets including the Financial Times, the Times and the BBC.

“Our objective was raising our profile in the political sphere and working with Lodestone has really brought that on. It’s a really refreshing approach that Lodestone takes. It’s looking at our individual problems and making bespoke solutions for how to address them whether that’s with politicians or by doing wider campaigns.” Richard Griffiths, CEO of the British Poultry Council.
